d’Urban d’Art Exchange and artSPACE durban Artists Choice Award 2014 –Theme:  “Window(s)”

Join us at artSPACE durban for the third of our exciting art exchange exhibitions.  This is an artist-orientated event; we have fun and pay tribute to ourselves as artists.  With most awards, the decision is made by a panel of judges and often strangely influenced and rather baffling.

With our Artists’ Choice Award, only the participating artists have a vote for the best work on show. We believe this gives a respectful ear to you, our artists, so your voice and choice can be heard.

To add another layer to the prizes, this year we will have a Jury award prize.

We wonder, will it be the same work that wins both top prizes?

The prizes on offer, besides the winners of the Artist’s Choice Award and the Jury Award, will be Lucky Draws of R750 and R 250, and once again numerous lucky draw prizes. As in years past, we have gift vouchers from Classic Canvas, Spectrum,  Village Hardware and Canvas Direct.

The KZN Science Centre at Gateway is on the move.

They will be moving from their Gateway venue from July 14.  However they will not be closing down.  They will still be busy with various outreach programmes around the province.

They will be relocating to new premises in the near future.

And a GoodSundae it was!

One of SA’s highly anticipated annual events, the Durban July weekend, saw thousands of revelers descending upon the Zulu Kingdom for a weekend of minimal sleep and maximum fun – with AXE and GoodSundae providing the hottest event to keep the Durban chill away.

AXE, in collaboration withGoodSundae,   created an unforgettable event experience that took place on Sunday, 6 July at People’s Park East, Moses Mabhida Stadium. Over 4,500 partygoers came to GoodSundae in anticipation of explosive performances from the headline acts, which included Zola, DreamTeam, K.O., MAGGZ, Kid X and Ma-E.

“The turnout was incredible and the energy was truly exhilarating. We are so proud to be associated with an event that was so slick and brought so many people together. The artists who performed brought their A-game to the stage and it was great to see the joy that music brings to our audience,” says Sphe Mjadu, Public Relations Manager for Personal Care brands at Unilever.

GoodSundae’s Sibs Jali adds, “This event was a reminder of why we do what we do. It wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support we’ve received from AXE and every single person who comes to our events. What we have lined up for the rest of the year will elevate the GoodSundae experience even more.”

The Durban July Weekend may be over, but the GoodSundae experience will continue to feature in conversations for a long time still.
